Sophisticated (and quirky) music with Ensemble Trivium

In Brisbane this April

Trivium – Latin: The place where three roads meet.

Monika Koerner (flute) and Nicole Tait (bassoon) form the core of Ensemble Trivium: a group which prides itself on presenting chamber music in unusual spaces, and using a self-confessed “quirky” combination of instruments.

The Brisbane-based players have formed a tradition of inviting a third guest artist into their group for each performance, in order to bring us a fresh range of performances. This time, they’re joined by clarinettist Nicholas Harmsen for works by Walter Piston, André Jolivet, Francis Poulenc, George Dreyfus, and Margaret Sutherland.

Nicole and Nicholas are principal players in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, with Monika principal flute in Camerata – the Queensland Chamber Orchestra.

See Ensemble Trivium with special guest Nicholas Harmsen from 3-4pm April 23 in Old Government House, 2 George St, Brisbane City. Tickets just $38 online.

To get you warmed up, watch the musicians of Ensemble Trivium performing in the alcove of this venue’s old fashioned staircase (because that’s the way they roll):
