ANNOUNCED: CutCommon Young Critics’ Mentorship Winner

Lydia McClelland Wins Inaugural CutCommon Mentorship

CutCommon and Peninsula Summer Music Festival jointly congratulate Lydia McClelland, the inaugural winner of the CutCommon Young Critics’ Mentorship!

Lydia, a Melbourne-based undergraduate student of Arts/Music (French/Japanese/Classical Performance – piano) at Monash University, formally accepted the mentorship on Friday.

She tells CutCommon:

I’m absolutely thrilled to be receiving this mentorship with CutCommon and the Peninsula Summer Music Festival!

As a young musician passionate about words, I’m always looking for new ways to develop and hone my skills in music writing.

I’m particularly looking forward to the opportunity to learn from expertise of the CutCommon editors, as well as attending unique performances at PSMF. In short, I’m really grateful for this opportunity!

Lydia will join CutCommon Deputy Editor Lucy Rash in providing exclusive coverage of the 2019 Peninsula Summer Music Festival for CutCommon, the festival’s media partner.

The two will undertake a one-on-one mentorship on location, with travel and accommodation generously supplied by PSMF.

CutCommon would also like to congratulate our two runners-up, Chantal Nguyen and Alleyne Moss.

The standard of applications was high and all entrants have received tailored feedback from our judges Lucy, Celine Chong (2017 CutCommon Young Writer of the Year, and Lead Writer – Queensland), and Ben Opie (Peninsula Summer Music Festival Artistic Director).

Keep up to date with everything festival-related by following CutCommon on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
