To celebrate 20 years of community music in the inner west, Leichhardt Espresso Chorus has commissioned 20 new works from Australian composers to reframe Handel’s famous Messiah. The Founder and Artistic Director of the choir Michelle Leonard OAM decided to commission the suite of new pieces as a way of celebrating Australian composers, and the achievements of the choir
itself.
The resulting concert, Messiah Reimagined, is performed with chamber orchestra featuring artists from the Australia Ensemble, saxophone quartet Continuum Sax, and the Meriden School Girls Choir.
