Samuel Cottell curates Tommy Tycho exhibition

Check it out at the Sydney Con

We’re eager to share some seriously cool news about CutCommon’s lead writer Samuel Cottell: this month saw the launch of his exhibition The life and music of Tommy Tycho in the University of Sydney. Head along to the Conservatorium of Music Library until October 10 to check it out.

Samuel, a PhD candidate, researches Tommy Tycho’s music across the second half of the 20th Century. In this exhibition curated by Samuel, you can experience Tycho’s career through samples of his sheet music, recordings, photographs and video footage, and more.

“I am thrilled and delighted to have been able to curate this exhibition at the Sydney Conservatorium Library,” Samuel says.

“The exhibition provides a visual snapshot of the life and music of Tommy Tycho, and sheds some light on his contribution to Australian musical culture since his arrival here in 1951.

“I’m hoping that many people will enjoy getting a glimpse into Tommy’s life and learn a little bit about his music, including his original compositions and his enormous and diverse output.”

Learn more about the exhibition here or read about Samuel on his website. We hope to catch you at the library!
