Sydney composer Alice Chance (1994) has had works commissioned or premiered by groups including the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship, Sydney Children’s Choir, Australian Youth Choir and Sydney Youth Orchestras. Alice performed her own composition at the Sydney Opera House as part of the HSC 2011 ENCORE series. She completed a composition residency in Wisconsin, USA and has been composer-in-residence at the Moorambilla Festival for three years. In 2014, she premiered an original musical production co-written with William Yaxley, designed for high school students. She is studying her music degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she was awarded the 2012 Ignaz Friedman Memorial Prize for academic merit in composition.
