If so, you’ve listened to the music of Gareth Coker. Gareth is a games composer who graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and has travelled the world picking up musical influences for his work.

In CutCommon’s first audio feature, we hook up with Gareth to bring you an interview about all things games scoring – including his new release with ARK: Survival Evolved.

WHO IS GARETH?

Gareth Coker is a games music composer, known for his scores for Ori and the Blind Forest, Minecraft, The Unspoken, and now ARK: Survival Evolved.

After graduating in composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the English-born composer travelled the world extensively to study music from different countries, including Japan, before completing the film scoring program at the University of Southern California.

In his constant pursuit of creating unique soundscapes, this multi-cultural background has enabled Gareth to draw upon numerous musical influences that have shaped his rich and versatile musical sound. His achievements include the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences award for Outstanding Music Composition, and Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for his significant contribution to the music profession.
